Beetroot Kuruma Recipe (Beetroot Curry with Coconut)
A simple and easy recipe of beetroot curry.
Jeera(cumin) -1 teaspoon
Bay leaf - 2
Cardamom - 2 crushed
Salt to taste
Chili Powder as per taste
Garam masala powder – ¼ tablespoon
Turmeric powder – ½ tablespoon
Garlic 4-5 pods
Cinnamon stick - 1
Onion – 2 Medium sized chopped
Tomato – 2 medium sized chopped
Beetroot - 250 grams
Sugar-1/2 tsp (optional)
Boil chopped beetroot in water for 15 - 20 mins.
Heat oil in pan, add bay leaf and cardamom.Later on add finely chopped onions and saute it well.
. You can add small amount of salt to make the cooking faster, once onion turns color add chopped tomatoes in it and saute it well.
Now add turmeric powder, chili powder and garam masala, mix altogether and add boiled beetroot along with it's water.
Add one tsp of sugar(optional) to enhance the taste. At last add the coconut paste and allow it to boil. You can also add cashew nut paste ( It act as a thickening agent).
Transfer the kurma to serving bowl and serve hot with chappati
