Dalia Upma (broken Wheat Upma)
It is an extremely nutritious and quick to make breakfast recipe. Here I am giving you the basic method of preparing it, You can add many vegetables to make it more tasty and fibre rich.
Dalia (Broken Wheat) – 200 grams
Onion – 1 small sized finely chopped
Ginger – ½ inch piece – finely chopped
Green chilies – 2-3 finely chopped
Curry leaves – few
Black mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon
Hing ( Asafoetida) – a pinch
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Sugar to taste
Oil – 2 tablespoons
Water – same quantity as that of dalia.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
Splutter Black mustard, hing and cumin seeds.
Add chopped onions, green chilies and curry leaves and fry till onions turn translucent.
Add dalia and mix. Sauté for few seconds.
Add salt, sugar and water and mix.
Close the lid and pressure cook for 2 -3 whistles.
Let the steam escape and serve hot dalia umpa.
