Gand Chetin (Kashmiri Onion Chutney)
3 Onions, peeled and sliced
2 tbsp, Green Coriander Leaves (chopped)
½ tsp, Black Cumin Seeds
12 to 15, Green Chillies (deseeded and chopped)
1 tsp, Red Chilli Powder OR 2 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
2 tbsp, Dried Mint leaves (optional)
½ Cup, Vinegar
Salt to taste
Take a wide bowl, add sliced onions and ½ tbsp salt. Mix well. Cover it and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
Now wash onions and drain the excess water completely.
Now add chopped coriander leaves, black cumin seeds, chopped green chillies, red chilli powder, vinegar, dried mint leaves and salt. Mix well.
Cover it and keep it into refrigerator for few hours before serving as a condiment.
: I have used regular red chilli powder as I didn’t not find Kashmiri red chilli powder. Traditionally Kashmiri red chilli powder is used as it gives nice colour to this chutney.
