Hridoy Haran #diwalirecipecontest
Hridoy Haran is a deep fried Indian festive sweet made with flour and later dipped in sugar syrup . These sweet treats are crispy on the outside and moist,tender and flaky on the inside .
A Heart Stealing Delicacy ...........
All Purposes flour - 1 cup
Mawa / Khoya - 1/2 cup
A pinch of Salt
Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
A pinch of Baking soda
Thick curd (chilled ) - 1/2 cup
Warm melted Ghee - 1/4 cup
Ghee for deep fried
For Sugar syrup ........
Sugar - 1 cup
Water - 1/2 cup
Lemon juice - 2 teaspoons
Rose water - 2 teaspoons
For Garnish ......
Chopped Almond and Pistachio
Dried Rose petals
In a large bowl sift together flour , salt , Baking powder and baking soda and chilled curd .
Mix the dough until it resembles a bread crumbs and knead until it from a soft dough . Cover the dough with a wet cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes .
Meanwhile let's prepared the chasni/ sugar syrup .......
In a heavy bottom pan add sugar and water and bring it to a boil then add lemon juice and boil for 3 - 4 minutes on medium heat. Bring it to a boil and add rose water and when it comes to one string consistency in your fingers then switch off the flame.
Divide the dough into small balls and stuffed the khoya in the Center and make an indent in the Center. Repeat with rest of the dough .
Heat ghee in a pan and drop Hirod Horon gently in ghee and fry until the golden colour.
Drop Hridoy Horon In a sugar syrup and soak for 20 minutes .
Remove from the sugar syrup and garnish with chopped almond and pistachios and rose petals ......
Serve and enjoy .......
Do not over heat the ghee . Hridoy Horon needs fried in a moderate heat ghee .....
