Its a royal Hyderabadi dessert.. best served at all festive occasions, birthday party, brunch, get together etc. People at all age groups loves this dish. Very easy to prepare..
Milk – 500 ml
Condensed milk - 1 cup
Bread - 8 pieces
Water - as required
Pista - chopped for Garnishing
Cardamon - 2
Ghee - 5 tbsp
Almond - chopped for Garnishing
Sugar - As per taste
Saffron - few strands soaked in milk
Boil the milk in a heavy bottom pot.
Soak almonds for 4 to 5 hours, remove the skin. Blend them with 2 green cardamoms, little milk, sugar and a generous pinch of saffron/ kesar. The paste must be very smooth.
When the milk comes to a boil, add this paste. Stir and cook on a medium flame.
When milk thickens and begins to smell aromatic. Switch off and set aside.
Trim the brown sides of the bread. Cut to triangles. Deep fry or tawa fry or bake the bread triangles. Deep fry with ghee. We need to fry bread to golden.
Add 1/3 cup sugar and little water to a wide pan to make sugar syrup. Simmer it until it comes to a one string consistency. Switch off the stove. Cool it a bit. Add bread slices and make sure syrup is coated well over the bread.
On a serving dish, arrange fried sugared bread. Pour the condensed milk all over the bread. Garnish with pistas, almonds, nuts, saffron.
