Yellow Dal (lentil Curry)

A simple comforting dal to accompany hot basmati rice, achar and papad

1 cup Toor Dal/ Arhar Dal (Split pigeon pea)
5 tbsp Ghee
2 Garlic cloves peeled and finely chopped
1 Tsp Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
Half tsp Chili powder
3 Tsp Haldi (Turmeric powder)
Salt to taste
Amchur (Dry mango powder) (optional)
One big bunch of coriander finely chopped
In a Pressure cooker add 3 tbsp ghee, when hot add chopped garlic & Jeera give it a quick mix
Add the Dal along with 2 cups of water, followed by Haldi, Chili powder, Amchur and salt.
Add coriander at this stage or as a garnish later (I prefer adding it at this stage for the flavor to blend well)
Pressure cook till the Dal is soft and cooked. (Usually 3 to 4 whistles should be enough)
Serve this dal hot on rice with achar and papad
You may also use onions to add a little more texture to this dal. I prefer to keep it simple -)
