Aloo Dum (spicy Potato Curry)

Aloo Dum (Spicy Potato Curry) is well known side dish all over India but the preparation varies. Potato contains energy rich carbohydrates and high value protein. It is low in fat and is an importance source of vitamins and minerals. Here is my Odia way of making it and people who love Potatos will love it...!!

Potatoes 5-6 pieces
Onions 2pieces (chopped)
Tomato Chopped 1
Ginger garlic paste 5 tablespoon
Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
Kashmiri lal mirch powder 2teaspoon
Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
Rice bran oil 3-4 tablespoon
Water 3cups
Wash and cook the potatoes for 1-2 whistles in a pressure cooker.
Allow the steam to escape, peel the potatoes and cut in 4 equal halves.
Heat oil, add chopped onions and a pinch of salt, fry till it turns soft and golden brown.
Add ginger garlic paste, kashmiri lal mirch powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and little water to it , stir it.
Add chopped tomato to it and stir till oil separates out.
Add diced potatoes, salt and stir it well .
Add 3 cups water, bring it to boil for 8-10 minutes till the gravy becomes little thick.
Sprinkle garam masala, mix well and remove from flame.
Ready to be served with rice, paratha, roti, puri .
