Bharwa Mirch Pakora (stuffed Green Chilli Fritters)

Mirch Pakora is also known as Mirchi Bajji or Mirchi Bhajiya or Chilly Pakora. It is a popular street and fast food in India. These are easy to make and full of flavour. It is one of the easiest side dish recipe and can be served with variety of pulses, or even with any vegetable curry. Here, I have stuffed masala mixture in these Mirch Pakora but if you want, you can stuff the green chillies with stuffing of your choice, such as paneer or potatoes. Expect an explosion in your mouth with each bite.

Bharwa Mirch Pakora
Green chillies (Large) - 4-5 pieces (the ones used for making chilli pickle)
Oil for deep frying
For stuffing:
Dry mango powder - 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
Cumin powder - ½ teaspoon
Chaat masala - ½ tsp
Red chilli powder - ½ teaspoon
Salt to taste
For the Coating (batter):
Besan (Bengal gram flour) - 2 cups
A pinch of asafoetida
Red chilli powder - ½ teaspoon
Turmeric powder - ½ teaspoon
Salt to taste
Water for making batter
Wash, wipe and slit the green chillies carefully only on one side, remove seeds and keep aside.
Batter: In a separate bowl, mix all the ingredients mentioned under the Coating section to a batter consistency and keep the ready batter aside.
Stuffing: Mix all the ingredients mentioned under the stuffing and fill it inside the chillies.
Dip these chillies in prepared batter and evenly coat the mirch (chillies) with batter, also apply some batter inside the slits.
Heat the oil in a pan for deep frying and fry the pakore on a medium flame till they turn golden brown and crisp.
Remove from the flame and serve hot with chutney.
Rice flour can be added for making Pakore more crispy.
