Dal Tadka Dhaba Style
This dal tadka is cooked in dhaba style and has a lingering taste of garlic. It is great to be with roti, naans and kulchas but can also be with plain rice. I love this recipe as it is healthy, nutritious and guilt free indulgence. #IndianDietRecipe
Chana dal (Split Bengal gram) 2 cups
Urad dal ( Split Black lentil) 1 cup
Chopped Garlic Ginger 2 tbsp
Chopped Tomato 1
Bay leaf 1
Red chilli for tadka 1
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Oil 1 tbsp
Water as per requirement
Salt as per taste
Turmeric power half tsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Wash and soak the dals for an hour.
Pressure cook the dals till they are soft and it takes about 20 minutes.
In a pan heat the oil and splutter mustard seeds.
Add red chilli and then add chopped ginger and garlic.
Fry till golden and then add chopped tomato.
Cook till tomato is soft and mushy
Add the dals and cook on low flame.
Add salt and turmeric powder.
Add water to adjust the thickness of the dal and cook while stirring for about 10 minutes.
Switch off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve with rice or roti
