Dalma (pulses Cooked With Vegetables)
It is a traditional dish of odisha mainly prepared during festivals. It is a purely vegetarian dish with lots of vegetables. It is healthy to eat.
Toor Dal 1 cup
Chana Dal 1 cup
Raw Banana 1
Big Brinjal 1
Raw Papaya 200gm
Dry Red Chilli 2-3pieces
Bay Leaf 1
Panch phutana 1tablespoon
Ginger chopped 1teaspoon
Refined Oil / Desi Ghee 3-4tablespoon
Haldi (Turmeric) powder 1teaspoon
Salt to taste
Roasted & Grinded Red chili with Cumin powder 2-3 teaspoon
Wash all the vegetables and cut the vegetables into small cubes.
Wash the toor dal and chana dal, keep aside.
Put 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker and add the toor dal along with Chana dal, Boil it for 2 minutes. Open the lid and add all the diced vegetables in to it. Add turmeric powder and salt to it. Cover the cooker and let 1 whistle to come.
Heat oil in a pan and add chopped ginger, bay leaf, broken red chilli and panch phutana. when it starts spluttering, Pour it over the boiled dal and vegetables.
let it boil for 2 minutes, sprinkle roasted red chili and Cumin powder over it.
Serve it with rice or chappati
Other Vegetables like (beans, cauliflower, drumsticks) can also be used.
