Drumstick Masala

Drumsticks are high in protein and make excellent accompaniments as side dishes. Traditionally they find their use in the Eastern and Southern part of India.

3-4 Long Drumsticks cut into 2 inch pieces
1 Large Onion
1 Tomato
2 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
½ tsp each Haldi, Chilli powder
½ tsp Garam Masala
2 Green chilli
2 tbsp Vegetable oil
Pinch of Salt & Sugar
1/2 teaspoon of Panchphoran
Boil the raw Drumsticks in hot water tempered with a bit of Salt and Haldi till they are nearly done.
In a heavy bottomed pan, heat up the oil and put Puncforan for tempering.
Put diced onions and fry till golden brown; Add ginger garlic paste and sauté till the oil separates from the masala.
Add the cubed tomato pieces and salt. Break the chilli to bits and put in the pan. Mash the tomatoes in the pan once soggy.
Put the Haldi, Chilli Powder and Garam Masala powder and incorporate the para boiled drumsticks.
Stir the Drumsticks on Medium flame to avoid sticking.
Cover and let it cook for 7-10 minutes; Serve hot with Rice or Roti.
