Hariyali Matar (green Pea Gravy)
It is a north Indian vegetarian side dish Recipe. This is rich in calcium, iron and fibre.
2 cups chopped Coriander leaves
1" piece of Ginger
4 cloves Garlic
3 Green Chillies chopped
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp Oil
1 tbsp Cumin seeds
A pinch Asafoetida
2 cups boiled Green Peas
Salt to taste
1/4 cup low fat Milk
1/4 cup grated Paneer (Cottage Cheese)
Make a green masala paste by grinding Coriander leaves, ginger, garlic, green chillies and lemon juice. Heat the oil in a non stick kadai/ Pan.
Add the cumin seeds first. When the seeds crackle, add asafoetida.
Add green peas and saute on a medium flame for 3-4 minutes.
Add the prepared green paste and salt and cook for 2 minutes.
Then add the milk and mix well and cook for another 2 minutes. Just before serving add the paneer and mix well and serve hot.
To make paste instead of coriander leaves we can add spinach leaves.
