Kali Dal Makhani (black Lentil Curry)

Dal Makhani is a famous Punjabi side dish recipe wherein kali dal and rajma is cooked and then tampered with onion and spices. As all the masala is pureed or pasted, it has a smooth creamy texture. A very healthy recipe and taste good with chappati and onion.

Kali dal makhani
Kali dal or Gota urad dal - 1/2 cup
Rajma (kidney beans) – ¼ cup
Onion paste – ½ cup
Tomato puree – ½ cup
Ginger garlic paste – 2 tablespoon
Cumin powder – 1 tablespoon
Red chilli powder – ½ tablespoon
Garam masala powder – ½ tablespoon
Salt – 1 tablespoon
Ghee – 2 tablespoon
Refined oil – 4 tablespoon
Fresh Cream – for garnishing (optional)
Boil kali dal and rajma together upto 7 whistles and keep it aside.
In karahi heat oil and put the onion and ginger and garlic paste. Fry for 2-3 mintues. Add red chilli powder, cumin powder, garam masala and tomato puree. Fry till the masala leaves the oil. Add the boiled dal, salt and ghee and mix well. Let it boil for few seconds. Garnish and serve hot with chappati
