Kariveppilai Chutney - Curry Leaves With Roasted Groundnut Chutney
This is a healthy dish. Curry leaves being a good remedy for hair growth and various other medicinal properties, consuming this chutney often is very good for health. I make this recipe as side dish for dosa, idli and rotis.
Curry leaves - 200 grams or a bowl full of leaves
Groundnut - 200 grams
Tamarind juice - 1/2 tbsp.
Garlic pods - 2
Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp.
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Dry red chillies - 4
Vegetable oil - 2 tbsp.
Wash and clean the curry leaves and place a pan on low flame and roast the curry leaves for about 2 minutes and keep it aside
Add groundnuts to the pan and roast it till it turns light brown. Remove it from flame and if you slightly crush with your hands you can peel off the groundnut skin.
Add the roasted groundnuts and roasted curry leaves in mixer, along with garlic, tamarind juice, little water, dry red chillies and salt and grind it to a fine paste
Make sure the consistency is thick and not watery. Now place a pan for seasoning in low flame.
Add vegetable oil, mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once it starts to flutter add the grind paste and remove it from flame immediately.
Check if salt is enough and serve it hot with rice, idli, dosa, rotis, chapathi.
