Kele Ka Kofta In Tomato Gravy (raw Banana Dumplings In Tomato Gravy)

Koftas are very common curry preparation in India. Koftas are small dumplings usually made by combining vegetables and spices and then these are served in thick creamy gravy. Kele ka kofta is made out of raw bananas. Raw banana has a very high content of iron and thus it is especially recommended for women and growing Children. When I was young, my mother used to feed me banana stir fry once or twice a week with rice and dal but I cannot imagine my six year to eat banana stir fry so easily. This recipe is my best alternative. So if you have fussy eaters at home, you can also try something like this to please them. Here goes the magical recipe...

(For kofta)
Kacche kele (Raw banana) - 2 pieces ( boiled)
Onion chopped – 3 tablespoon
Green chilli chopped – 2 pieces
Salt – ½ tablespoon
Roasted cumin powder – ¼ tablespoon
Grated ginger – ½ tablespoon
Refined flour – 2 tablespoon
Refined oil – 6 tablespoon
(For gravy)
Finely chopped onions – 1 piece.
Cardamom – 2 pieces
Clove – 2 pieces
Cinnamon stick – ½ inch
Cumin seeds – ½ tablespoon
Tomato – 1 large pieces
Salt – ¼ tablespoon
Sugar – ¼ tablespoon
Fresh cream –1/4 cup.
To make kofta, take a large bowl and mash the boiled bananas. Add chopped onion, green chilli, roasted cumin powder, grated ginger and salt and mix well.
Make small balls and roll it over refined flour.
Heat oil in a karahi and fry the koftas till they turn brown. Take them out and keep aside.
In the remaining oil add the chopped onions for gravy. Fry them till they turn light brown.
Simultaneously make a paste of tomato, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and cumin seeds.
Once the onion turn light brown add the tomato masala paste and fry till the masala leaves oil. Add the cream, salt and sugar and cook for 2 mintues.
Finally add koftas and garnish with cream and serve.
