Lauki (Small) - 1 cup (grated)
Besan - 1/4 cup + 1/8 cup
Onion (medium) - roughly chopped - 1
Tomato (small) - roughly chopped - 2
Ginger paste - 1 Tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/2 Tsp + 1/2 Tsp
Jeera Sabut - 1/3 Tsp
Heeng - a pinch
Haldi powder - 1/2 Tsp
Dhaniya powder – 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala - 2 pinch
Salt - 1/2 Tsp + as per taste
Cooking oil - for deep frying + 1 Tbsp
Honey - 1/2 Tsp
Water - 1.5 cup
Take grated lauki and squeeze out extra water in a bowl. Add 1/8 cup besan to lauki water and keep aside.
Add 1/4 cup besan to squeezed lauki. Mix it in a bowl. Add 1/2 Tsp red chilli powder & salt. Mix it well.
Heat oil in a frying pan. Meanwhile, make small balls from the mixture. Deep fry the koftas. Take out on a paper towel and keep aside.
Put onion in a grinder. Grind it well into a paste. Heat 1 Tbsp oil, add jeera and heeng. Once done, add ginger and onion paste.
Put tomatoes in a grinder. Grind them well into a paste. Cook the onion paste for couple of minutes until it turns brown. Add tomato paste. Mix and cook until it thickens.
Add haldi, chilli and dhania powder. Cook for 2 minutes. Add water and salt. Cook till it starts boiling. Add lauki water and cook for a minute. Add koftas to the curry. Cook for 5 minutes. Add honey and garam masala.
Garnish with coriander. Kofta curry is ready to be served hot :)
