Maharashtrian Pooran Poli.

Pooran polis are made but one made with split Bengal gram is more popular.It is very tasty, easy to cook and stays fresh for 2-3 days & made during .This is my Motherinlaws recipe.
puran poli is a bread stuffed with a sweet lentil filling made from skinned bengal gram/chana dal and jaggery,Or Sugar . in marathi language the sweet filling is called as puran and the bread is called as poli.

3/4 cup Tuvar Dal (arahar dal) 3/4 cup Sugar or Jaggery (gud) 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom Powder (elaichi) 1/8 teaspoon Nutmeg Powder (jaifal), optional 2 tablespoons + for smearing Ghee (clarified butter) 1 cup Wheat Flour + for rolling 1½ tablespoons Oil
Wash tuvar dal in water for 2-3 times and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain excess water and pressure-cook it with 1½ cups water in a pressure cooker (3-5 liter capacity) for 3 whistles over medium flame. Let pressure inside cooker comes down naturally; open the lid and drain any excess water.
