Mandeli Curry (goan Fish Curry)

Mandeli which is also known as Golden Anchovies is typical Goan fish. It is a tiny fish, but tastes really amazing when made a curry or even fried.

10 -15 Mandeli (Golden Anchovies)
1 and 1/2 cups shredded Coconut
1 and 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Coriander seeds
5 Black Peppercorns
6-7 Tirphala
4 Kokam
2 Green Chilies
1/2" Ginger chopped
Salt to taste
Clean the mandeli well and marinate it with salt and keep for 15 minutes.
In a mixer, take shredded coconut, chili powder, turmeric, coriander seeds and black peppercorns, grind well to make a smooth paste. Take this mixture out in a pan and add little water, just about to make a curry like texture.
Add sliced green chilies, chopped ginger, tirphala and salt to the mixture. Then put the gas flame on and cook it till a boil on a medium flame.
Wash the marinated mandeli and add it to the mixture after it comes to a boil. Let it cook until 5 more minutes.
Then add some coconut oil and kokam. Put the flame off.
Serve hot with chapati or steamed rice
