Oats Vegetable Kozhukatti-oats Steamed Dumblings

As we all know that Oats is a good source of dietary fiber. It contains both soluble and insoluble fibehirs. According to researches, including oats in our diet can reduce high cholesterol significantly. Oats kozhukatti is very healthy, tasty & very easy to make also.Here i ve added beetroot to make more nutritious & colourful.
You can make these healthy oats dumblings for breakfast or dinner or evening snacks.

Gajapriya's Secret Indian Recipe !

cooking oats-1 cup
Onion -1/2 cup finely chopped
Green chilli - 1 finely chopped
Grated beetroot - 1/4 cup
Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
Salt as needed
To temper:
Oil -1 tbsp
Mustard seeds -1 tsp
Urad dal -1 tsp
Hing - a pinch
Curry leaves-few
First dry roast oats for 2-3 minutes and powder it coarsely.Grate beetroot and keep it ready. Finely chop green chillies and onions.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add urad dal, hing and curry leaves. When dal turns golden brown, add onions and saute until it turns transparent.
Add green chillies, grated beetroot and saute for a few more minutes.Then add grated coconut and saute for another 2-3 seconds.
Add oats, 1/2 cup of water, salt needed and cook for a few more seconds. Remove from heat and leave it to cool. When it is warm, make oval shaped dumplings/balls out of it. If you cannot make balls, sprinkle little water and try again.
Steam the Oats Kolukattais for 10 minutes in a steamer or idli cooker.serve hot with tomato chutney or red chilly chutney or onion chutney.
You can any veggies instead of beetroot like carrot, green peas, beans etc..to make oats dumblings.
