Paneer Tikka Masala – ( Cottage Cheese Tikka In Thick Tomato Gravy)

Paneer tikka masala is a north Indian side dish recipe which is served with naan. A very common food served at Punjabi dhaba ( food stall) , it has paneer and a creamy thick tomato gravy.

(for paneer tikka)
Paneer( cottage cheese) – 150 grams
Ginger – garlic paste – ½ tablespoon
Cumin powder – ¼ tablespoon
Turmeric powder – ¼ tablespoon
Garam masala - ¼ tablespoon
Kasuri methi (dry fenugreek) – ¼ tablespoon
Curd – 2 tablespoon
(for the gravy)
Onion – 1 piece (finely chopped)
Tomatoes – 2
Ginger – garlic paste – ½ tablespoon
Cumin powder – ¼ tablespoon
Coriander powder – ½ tablespoon
Garam masala – ½ tablespoon
Red chilli powder - ½ tablespoon
Salt – 1 tablespoon
Sugar – ¼ tablespoon
Cream – 4-5 tablespoon
Oil – 6 tablespoon
Cut the paneer into medium pieces. In a bowl add paneer, ginger – garlic paste, cumin powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, kasuri methi and curd and mix. Marinate it for an hour.
Heat 2 tablespoon of oil in a pan and fry the marinated paneer pieces till they turn light brown.
Once paneer is fried, add remaining oil in the pan and fry the onions till they turn light brown. Afterwards add ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder and garam masala and fry for 4-5 seconds.
Add tomatoes and continue to fry till the masala leaves oil. Now add paneer, the leftover marinated masala , salt, sugar and ½ cup of water and simmer for a minute.
Finally add cream and cook for another 1 mintue. Paneer tikka masala is ready. Serve it with naan or chappati.
