Tomato Salna

Tomato salna is a well known south Indian recipe. This is very good side dish for briyani, pulav, roti, naan..this is a vegtarian recipe if u want to make a non vegtarian version, you can add chicken or mutton as per your choice.

Gajapriya's Secret Indian Recipe !

Onion-1 big chopped
Tomato-2 medium sized chopped
Ginger & garlic paste-1 tsp
Green chilly-1 no.
Chilly powder-1 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Garam masala powder-1 tsp
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds-1/2 tsp
Cloves-2 no.
Coriander leaves- few
Curry leaves -few
Kasoori methi-1/2 tsp
Roast & Grind:
Cashews-1 tsp
Badam ( Almond)-1 tsp
Ground nut-1 tsp
Khus khus-1 tsp
Sesame seeds-2 tsp
Grated Coconut-2 tbsp
Oil- as needed
Salt- to taste
Heat a pan and add 1 tablespoon of oil. Kep the flame low.Then add khus khus once its pops up add cashews, badam, groundnut, coconut & finally add sesame seeds. Just roast for 1 second and then switch off the gas. Once it gets cooled grind it as a paste & keep aside.
Take a kadai add oil. After oil is heated add cumin seeds, fennel seeds and cloves. Once they start to splutter, add curry leaves, green chili and onion. Saute till it turns golden in colour.
Then add ginger & garlic paste saute it for a mintue & then add tomatoes. Keep sauteing and add some salt and dry masala powder one by one. Saute till raw smell goes.
Now add grounded paste + 1 cup of water allow it to cook for 10mins on medium flame. switch off the flame. Add kasoori methi & coriander leaves & serve hot.
You can adjust the quantity of spices as per taste.
While sauteing onion, add little bit of sugar it will help to fry the onions quickly & also when you will bite on onions, it will give you a mild sweet taste.
