Tri Dal (teen Dal/gadir Dal)

Teen Dal, also known as Gadir dal, it’s a is combination of three different types of dals, which is chana dal, moong chilka dal, urad dal. As this recipe contains three kinds of dals, so it itself is a very healthy, loaded with vitamins dal recipe. Teen Daali is a regular dal served in Sindhi homes. Teen dal tastes good with roti.

Split bengal gram (Chana dal) - 1/2 cup
Split green gram (chilke wali moong dal) - 1/4 cup
Black lentil with skin (chilke wali urad dal) - 1/4 cup
Green chili – 1 chopped
Garlic – 7-8 minced
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Red chili powder or according to taste
Coriander leaves - chopped
Lemon juice - 3 teaspoon
Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Wash the dal properly. Soak them in water for 30 minutes.
Drain the water and transfer in a pressure cooker. Add salt, turmeric powder, green chillies and 1 1/2 cup of water.
Cook upto 2-3 whistles.
Turn off the flame and keep it aside to cool completely. Let the pressure cooker release steam itself.
Open lid once pressure has completely released, mash the dal with a dal ghotni or blend it to a smooth pouring consistency.
Add water and salt to adjust the thickness and taste of the dal and cook for about 5-7 minutes.
Heat the oil for tempering, add garlic.
As the garlic turns reddish brown remove from heat, add red chili powder.
Add the above tadka to the dal, add lemon juice, garnish with coriander leaves and cover.
Serve hot with roti.
