Vazhakkai Porial (raw Banana Curry)
Vazhakkai Porial (Raw Banana Curry) is a very famous south Indian dish. It is served with Sambhar Rice or Rasam Rice. Raw banana is very good for health and has high nutritive value.
Raw Banana: 4
Grated Coconut: ½ cup
Ginger: ½ inch
Curry Leaves: 1 sprig
Green Chilies: 2-3
Mustard Seeds: 1tsp
Black lentils (Urad Daal): 1 tsp
Coconut Oil: 2 table spoon
Salt to taste
Add the banana to boiling hot water. Close the lid and keep it aside.
After about 15 min, peel the bananas and grate them.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard and urad dal and wait till the mustard begins to crackle. Now add the green chilies and curry leaves.
Now add the grated banana and mix well. Add some salt as per your taste. Grate the ginger and add it to the mixture. Cook for about 5 minutes.
Add the grated coconut, mix it again and turn off the gas. Serve hot.
