Vengaiya Chutney (small Onion Chutney)

This is a Indian relish made with small onions (also known as pearl onions) with red chillies and tamarind. This is a good side dish for idli & dosa. Pearl onions help to lower cholesterol and is also good for heart.

Ingredients: 
Small Onion/ Shallots: 150 gms
Tamarind pulp : 1Tsp
Urad Dal: 1& 1/2 Tsp
Mustard seeds: 1Tsp
Oil: 2 Tbsp + 1 Tsp for tempering
Curry leaves: few
Hing: 1-2 pinches
Salt: to taste
Dry Red Chillies: 4
Directions: 
In kadhai heat oil, Add 1/2 of the mustard seeds, 1 tsp urad dal and red chillies and fry for one minute and keep it side.
In same oil fry chopped small onions, till raw smell goes and add it to the already fried ingredients.
Transfer to a grinder, add tamarind pulp, salt and grind to paste.
Heat remaining oil, add remaining mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves and add to chutney as garnish.
Serve chutney with idli and dosa for breakfast.
