Gatte Ki Sabzi (gramflour Cake Curry)

Gatte ki sabzi is a rajasthani side dish recipe.The main ingredient is channa dal ka besan and various spices are mixed to make gatte ki sabzi. Gatte ki sabzi is one of the recipes which can be made without any vegetables and hence is a good option if you do not have any vegetables in your refrigerator and don’t want to go to market.

Ingredients: 
Channa dal (soaked for 2 hours) 150 grams (5.5ounce, alternatively one can use besan)
Coriander seeds ½ tablespoon
Red chilli powder ½ tablespoon
Turmeric ½ tablespoon
Salt 1/2 tablespoon
Mustard oil 5 tablespoon
(For the gravy)
Sour Curd 4 tablespoon
Red chilli powder ½ tablespoon
Turmeric ½ tablespoon
Salt 1/2 tablespoon
Hing (Asafoetida) 1 pinch
Coriander powder ½ tablespoon
Cumin seeds ½ tablespoon
Directions: 
To make gatte grind the channa dal and pour it in a bowl. Add coriander seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and make 2-3 cylindrical cakes from it and keep it aside.
In a large pan boil ½ litre of water and put the cylindrical cakes in it and let it boil for 20 mintues.
Then take them out and cut ½ inch thick circular gate. Heat oil in a karahi and fry the gate till they turn light brown.
To make gravy take curd, red chilli powder, turmeric and coriander powder in a bowl and mix well.
Then in the remaining oil in the karahi add cumin seeds and hing and pour the curd mixture. Add salt and sauté till the masala leaves the oil.
Then add 1 cup of water and fried gatte. Mix well and cook for 6-7 mintues on low flame. Serve hot with rice.
