Aloo Matar Ka Bhujia (potato And Green Pea Fry)

Aloo matar ka bhujia /fry is a common side dish recipe in winter across India. It is the most elementary aloo and pea recipe and the most versatile side dish recipe. It can be served as snack or as a side dish with rice or chappati. I have a secret trick to make this recipe.....that is you should cook the potatoes till they are half done and then add the peas. Adding the pea along with potatoes will make them hard. If you are using frozen peas then blanch them in warm water with a pinch of sugar and then add it when the potatoes are almost done as the forzen pea take less time to cook. I would otherwise recommend to use fresh pea. Moreover you can use the leftover Aloo Matar (Ifyou can resist) along with chopped coriander and chopped chilies as stuffing for parathas. So here goes the recipe of this versatile fry....

Ingredients:
Aloo (potato) 2 pieces (chopped in ½ inch pieces)
Matar (green pea) 1 cup
Green chillies 2 pieces
Salt 1/2 tablespoon
Black pepper powder ¼ tablespoon
Mustard oil 4 tablespoon
Directions:
Heat oil in a karahi and add potatoes. Put the lid on and Cook potatoes on low flame till they are half done.
Afterwards add green pea, chillies and salt and mix well. Again put the lid on and cook till potatoes and peas are done. This will take 5-6 mintues.
Sprinkle pepper powder and serve hot with chappati or tea.
