Channa Gughni (blackgram Curry)
It is a northindian breakfast recipe.Bengal gram is boiled and cooked in a rich gravy of onion, ginger and garlic and is usually served along with a sweet dish – halwa or ganne ka rus.
Gota channa (Whole Bengal gram) - 1 cup (soaked in water overnight)
Bay leaves – 2 pieces
Onion – 2 pieces (chopped)
Ginger garlic paste - 2 tablespoon
Red chilli paste – 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder – ½ tablespoon
Mustard oil – 4 tablespoon
Salt – 1 tablespoon
Put the channa in a pressure cooker and add 1 cup o f water and boil upto 7-8 whistles or till the channa turns tender.
In a karahi heat oil aand add bay leaves and onion. Fry the onion till it becomes light brown. Than add the ginger garlic paste,red chilli paste nas turmeric powder and fry till the masala leaves the oil. Now add channa and salt and cook on low heat for 2 mintues. Serve hot with Sooji ka Halwa or ganne ka rus ( sugar cane juice).
