Pappu Pulsu (dhal Sambar)

Sambar is an all time favourite South Indian Lunch recipe. Sambar goes well with yam fry or potato fry and rice. In south India for every festival and celebrations, It is an important Recipe. As I am a vegetarian I like this recipe so much.

Ingredients: 
Toor dal -1 cup (Split Pigeon pea)
Tomato - 1 (Chopped)
Green chilli - 4
Pepper -5 seeds (Crushed)
Salt - As needed
Turmeric powder-1 Teaspoon
Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
Black gram raw-1 Teaspoon
Tamarind Juice -1/2 cup
Curry Leaves - 6 leaves
Directions: 
Wash the toor dal and soak for 20 minutes.
In a pressure cooker add Dal, Tomato, Salt, Turmeric powder, Pepper and Green chilli with 2 cups of water.
Cook till 2 whistles.
Open the lid and mash the Toor dal, Tomato and Green chillies well.
Now add Tamarind water and boil for 3 minutes.
For Tempering heat oil in pan and add mustard seeds, Curry leaves and black gram dal.
Then add it to the sambar.
Now its ready to serve :)
