Steamed Bananas With Coconut Fillings

Recently I visited my friend who lives in Kerala and she served this as breakfast to us. It was so delicious and mouthwatering which can be made very easily. Of course a stomach filling one too. A very healthy breakfast or evening tiffin for growing children and an interesting way to make them eat fruits. Every bite of this gives awesome taste with the perfect blending of coconut, banana and honey.....

Subhashni Venkatesh's Secret Indian Recipe !

Serves:
4

Preparation Time:
5 minutes
Cooking Time:
10 minutes

Complexity:
Very Easy

Ingredients:
Nendram Pazham (Ripe Plantains) 4
Fresh Grated Coconut 3 tb spoons
Honey 2 tb spoons
Sugar or brown sugar 2 tb spoons
Directions:
In a pan dry roast the coconut till the moisture goes and keep it aside. Once it cools down mix sugar or brown sugar with it and keep aside.(Brown sugar is healthy) (Since we are making it for kids roast the coconuts with a tea spoon of ghee to enhance the flavour and it gives essential fat for the children)
Remove the edges on the both sides of the Plantain and cut them in to two pieces. Make a slit vertically on the banana.
With the help of a spoon stuff the coconut mix in to the banana. Place the stuffed bananas in to the idly cooker or steamer and cook for 10 minutes.
Or you can microwave them for a minute. Then pour a tea spoon of honey on the coconut and serve hot.
Footnotes:
To make it more interesting for kids add finely chopped nuts to the coconut mix and they love this crunchy bite defintely.
