Paneer Matar Ki Sabzi (cottage Cheese And Peas Curry)

A simple weekday after work dish. This is a great recipe when you are expecting guests on a weekday and you have nothing but frozen peas and Paneer. My mother used to make it regularly when I was a kid, but of course she used fresh Paneer and fresh green Mattar.

Ingredients:
200 gms Paneer (Cottage cheese)
100 gms Peas
2 large Onions finely chopped
2 Tomatoes finely chopped
1 large bunch coriander chopped
1 tbsp Garam Masala
1 tsp Dania-jeera powder (Cumin& coriander powder)
2 Tsp red chili powder
1 tsp Jeera
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1 tsp haldi
1and half tbsp Salt
Half a tsp sugar
1 cup water
Oil for cooking
Directions:
Give the Paneer a quick stir-fry till golden brown from outside and keep aside.
In a kadhai take a oil, when hot add Jeera, Onions and let it cook till onion softens.
Add Ginger garlic paste, Haldim Chili powder, Dania-jeera powder, salt give it a quick mix and add tomatoes
Let this mixture cook till it combines well. If it start sticking to the pan you may add a little water
Add the peas and mix well, add a little water (about 3 tbsp) and cook covered till the peas are cooked well
Add Paneer, Garam Masala, a pinch of more salt, sugar and coriander leaves. Add the remaining water, cook covered for 10 mins
Serve hot with rice
Footnotes:
You may skip ginger garlic paste if you are cooking for a regular day meal for yourself, it tastes equally good.
