Payazi Karela (bitter Gourd Cooked With Onion)
The health benefits of the plant are well-known—particularly, its ability to lower blood glucose in diabetics. Bitter gourd has been used to treat diabetes in traditional medicine
Bitter gourd - 250 gm
Onion - 100 gm (sliced)
Salt to taste
Oil- 3 tablespoon
Sugar - 1/2 tablespoon
Wash the bitter gourd and cut the both ends of it , now cut it into half and than slice cut it.
Now take a pan , heat oil in it. Add the bitter gourd and fry till it turns light brown. Add onion and salt and mix well.
Put a lid on and cook the gourd for 10 min or till the dish is properly cooked.
Add the sugar and cook for another 6=7 seconds. Serve with rice and dal.
To subdue the bitterness , soak in bittergourd in salt and turmeric water for 1/2 hour after cutting them.
